Distinctive Unit Insignia
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Sanguine, a caduceus surmounted by a five-pointed mullet Azure, in base a demi-sunburst with seven rays exposed Or. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a tripartite Blue scroll inscribed DIGNITY RESPECT in Silver letters.
Maroon is the color associated with the US Army Medical Department and the caduceus is a symbol used by military medical organizations. The shield shape alludes to the US Army Europe shoulder sleeve insignia, representing the two roles the Commander holds as Regional Health Command, Europe Commander and the US Army Europe Command Surgeon. The blue star was a symbol of the original US Medical Command Europe. The rising sun represents hope, for the Command is the first stop for warriors injured on the battlefield. The seven exposed rays symbolize the Commands roots as the 7th Medical Command. The motto reflects the foundations that the Command is built upon.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the Europe Regional Medical Command on 27 November 2012. It was redesignated effective 1 October 2016, for the US Army Regional Health Command, Europe with the symbolism updated. It was redesignated 14 April 2022 for the Medical Readiness Command, Europe.
